Today's Tip: Bring Your Own Food to the Ballpark
Does Spring Training get you excited? Have you missed baseball? Well, the author has.
Although this article is geared towards a baseball theme, it can be transferred to any of the
major sports. Whether your sport of choice is baseball, football, hockey, basketball,
soccer, or NASCAR, this holds true most of the time across the board.
If you are frugal (notice I didn't say cheap) like me, you are always thinking of how to save
money. Hey, some people budget, some people clip coupons, some people devote entire
websites to it.
The exciting news is that most stadiums will let you bring in food or drinks to the ballpark.
Granted, this doesn't mean you can go bringing in your casseroles and lasagna, but you can
bring some snacks that can tide you over and help you avoid the $5 sodas and $5 hot dogs
once you're at your seat.
Here's a good example. At PNC Park, home to the National League's Pittsburgh Pirates,
their official site on mlb.com states that each guest is permitted to bring in one bag into the
ballpark. Included in this bag may be one bottle of water, and food which may fit into a
16'' X 16'' X 8'' soft-sided bag. Now, you might not be anything like me, but when I hear
that I am ecstatic!! Think of all the possibilities that can go into this bag of ours? Licorice,
rice krisipy treats, FUDGE STRIPE COOKIES, animal crackers, juice boxes...the list goes
on and on!
If you're bringing your family of four to the ballpark, here is a great way to save some
money. After all, the tickets can be quite pricey, especially if you want to sit down near
where the action is.
Just remember, there's always a way to save money, no matter what you are doing. Just
look for it!
