Today's Tip:  Buy the Sunday Paper

While it may seem counterproductive, sometimes the old business adage is true:  you gotta
spend money to make money.  We'll paraphrase...you gotta spend money to save money!
Every Sunday, you have a golden opportunity to clip coupons and match them to the
weekly grocery circulars.  In fact, if you do it right, oftentimes you can walk out of
grocery stores with free items, or even having the grocery store pay you!

The main section of the paper will often have coupons to save between 10% - 25% on
retailers such as Macy's, Dillard's, or JCPenney.  These coupons, of course, aren't going to
save you a bundle, because as you already know, retailers already command such a high
margin on their supply.  (I'd recommend discounted outlets such as Marshall's, Kohl's, or
T.J. Maxx).

Where it can really add up is the grocery coupon section.  Make sure that this section is in
there before buying the paper!  Most grocery chains have a weekly "loss leader," which is
geared to simply get foot traffic in the door.  Ever see when the 12-pack of soda is 5 for
$10?  That's a loss leader!  Make sure that you save the weekly fliers that come in the mail
from your grocery store so that you can pair them up to see just where you can be the
most effective in your grocery shopping.  Sure it may be time consuming, but would it
really take you any more than a half-hour?  Plus, there's a reason that lazy Sundays can
sometimes be the best part of your week!
