The Weekend of February 1, 2008
Today's Tip:  Believe

When you hear the word believe, what do you think about?  Do you think about religious
zealots or blind faith?  No matter what you believe, chances are you do believe something.
I am not going to appeal to the nihilists among us; frankly, in my opinion, they are going to
need a lot more than a mere budget tip to get help.

Anyway, wow that was a stinger.  I don't usually jab like that, so you'll have to accept my
apologies.  Come to think of it, it is quite contradictory (behavior) to what I'm going to
suggest as a budget tip for you to ponder over the weekend.  So again, find it in your heart
to forgive my abrasiveness this morning.

Take a look at the statistic on the right.  Five out of six of us Americans are Christian.  You
are who I'm writing for today.  Yes, we all come together at Christmas declaring our
loathing of the "Happy Holidays" phrase, but let us unite today on a different matter.
Luke
6:31
states that we should "Do unto others as we would have them do unto us."  Deep in
your heart, I'm willing to wager that you believe in karma and the golden rule, and that what
goes around comes around.  So although you are always trying to save money (and there's
certainly nothing wrong with budgeting), don't forget the important things in life.  Don't be
a Scrooge when it comes to tipping your server.  Throw a dollar in the tip jar for the
Barista.  Let the amount of money that you save inspire you to open the doors to help
others out there in this world.  If you keep an eye on the economy, you are aware that we
are in the midst of a recession.  Be thankful for what you have and what you have been
given.  Take heart knowing that if you are generous to others, the favor will be returned
tenfold.  For to those who much has been given, much will be expected.

Thank you for reading our budget tip of the day.  Have a great weekend, and go out of your
way to make someone else's day this weekend.
