Today's Tip: Use Discount Web Retailers
Do you intend on traveling this upcoming year? Are you a bit leery of the Priceline and
result of allowing them to pick your flight times, but if you are flexible, it's almost silly not
to use these outlets. When they say they can save you up to 30% on flights, they do mean
it.
But even if you aren't flying, hotel savings can add up quickly. Priceline and Hotwire allow
you to select the star level of the hotel and the part of the city that you want to stay at. Not
a bad combination. So yes, while you do not know where you are staying until after the
rate is accepted, you know that you are likely going to stay within about 2 miles of your
destination and at a price that might be half the retail price. Still leery? Well, I can
understand. But look at it from this vantage point. If you are used to staying at
two-and-a-half to three star hotels, why not check rates on these hotels and then make an
offer to Priceline a bit less than this rate on a four-star hotel? The odds are that you will get
the room, and the room will be nicer than the one you originally planned!
Did you also know that many people sell their frequent flyer/rapid reward credits online via
Craigslist.org? Many business travelers earn miles faster than they are able to spend them.
A recent search on Craigslist showed that the going rate for a round-trip ticket to anywhere
in the country is between $300 - $350. So if you live in southern California and want to
head to New England, this can be a great option.
